The Indian Air Force was officially founded on October 8, 1932. It was an auxiliary air force under the British Empire which honored India’s aviation services throughout World War II with the prefix Royal. The Indian Air Force Act of 1932 defined their subsidiary status. It enacted the use of the Royal Air Force’s uniforms, badges, brevets, and insignia. On January 1, 1933, the IAF was commissioned with the first unit, No. 1 Squadron. This included four Westland Vapitis biplanes as well as five Indian pilots.
Required Nationality
Nationality Should be either Indian or a Nepalese Citizen.
Age For Airforce Agniveer
- Eligible age will be in range from 17 years to 20.5 years.
- The age eligibility mentioned in the official notification is 17.5 to 21.

Airforce Agniveer Qualification
Airforce Agniveer Qualification is as follow:
For Civilian Candidates
(a) Science Subjects :-
- Should have passed Class 10+2/ Intermediate/Equivalent exam from an education board / Institute listed in Council of Boards for School Education (COBSE) website as members, with Physics/ Maths /English as mandatory subjects with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English as per the mark sheet of Class 10 + 2 / Intermediate /Equivalent exam. Or
- Should have completed 03 years diploma course in Engineering in any one of the prescribed stream from a Government recognised Polytechnic Institute with 50% marks in aggregate as per Diploma final year mark sheet and 50% marks in English in Diploma or in Intermediate/Matriculation mark sheet, if English is not a subject in Diploma course. Or
- Should have passed 02 years vocational course with non-vocational subject viz. Physics and Maths from State Education Boards / Councils which are listed in COBSE with 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English in Vocational Course (or in Intermediate / Matriculation, if English is not a subject in Vocational Course).
(b) Other than Science Subjects:-
- Should have passed Class 10 + 2/ Intermediate/Equivalent exam in any stream from an education board / Institute listed in Council of Boards for School Education (COBSE) website as members, in any stream/subjects with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English as per the mark sheet of Class 10 + 2 / Intermediate/ Equivalent exam. Or
- Passed two years vocational course from Educational Boards listed as COBSE member with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English in Vocational Course or in Intermediate/Matriculation if English is not a subject in Vocational Course.
For Serving NCs(E)
(a) Science Subjects:-
- Should have been declared as passed in Class 10 + 2/Intermediate/Equivalent exam from an education board / Institute listed in Council of Boards for School Education (COBSE)website as members, with Physics / Maths / English subjects as per the mark sheet of Class 10 + 2 / Intermediate / Equivalent exam. Or
- Should have completed 03 years diploma course in Engineering in any one of the prescribed stream from a Government recognised Polytechnic Institute with pass marks in English as a subject in Diploma or in Intermediate / Matriculation, if English is not a subject in Diploma Course. Or
- Should have passed 02 years vocational course with non-vocational subject viz. Physics and Maths from State Education Boards / Councils which are listed in COBSE with pass marks in English in vocational course (or in Intermediate / Matriculation, if English is not a subject in Vocational Course)
(b) Other than Science Subjects:-
- Should have passed Class 10 + 2/ Intermediate/Equivalent exam in any stream from an education board / Institute listed in Council of Boards for School Education (COBSE) website as members, in any stream/subjects with English as a mandatory subject as per the mark sheet of Class 10 + 2 / Intermediate/ Equivalent exam. Or
- Passed two years vocational course affiliated/recognised by CBSE/State Education Boards/Councils duly recognized at par with 10+2 by AIU pass marks in English in vocational course or in Intermediate/Matriculation if English is not a subject in Vocational Course.
Note-1: Education Boards listed in Council of Boards for School Education (COBSE) website as members, as on date of registration will only be permitted. Note-2: Exact aggregate Percentage of marks before decimal as written in the marks sheet of 10+2/Intermediate/Equivalent Examination/Three years Diploma Course/Two years Vocational Course OR calculated as per the rules of concerned Education Board/Polytechnic Institute will only be considered (For example 49.99% should be taken as 49% and not be rounded off to 50%). Note-3: Candidate must possess his unique valid e-mail ID and mobile number for filling of online application. All communication with candidate will be done on his registered e-mail ID only

Airforce Agniveer Exam Pattern
In the Phase-I examination candidates will be appearing for online examination (CBT) which is scheduled on INTAKE-1 March month and INTAKE-2 September month at one of the examination centre chosen by the candidate. Earlier there was a written examination in place of online examination which used to take place at the selection centres of Indian Air Force. As we know that there are three options while applying. There are various exam pattern for Air Force X & Y & Both group. The examination pattern of these groups are following-

Marking pattern for Airforce Agniveer Online Test:-
- 1 mark for every correct answer.
- 0 marks for attempted question.
- 0.25 marks shall be deducted for each wrong answer.
There are few instructions which are very important for all the candidates which are given below-
- Syllabus of the examination will be of 10+2 CBSE Standard.
- Candidates are to qualify in each paper separately in their respective groups.
- The result of phase-I examination will be uploaded on https://agnipathvayu.cdac.in within 15 days from the date of online exams.
Airforce Agniveer Physical Fitness Test
Soon after the declaration of the result of Phase-I (Online) Test, a cut off will be applied based on the marks scored by the candidates in the Phase I Test and SHORTLISTED candidates will be sent a new admit card on their Registered e-mail ID for phase – II test at an Airmen Selection Centre. This admit card for phase – II exam can also be downloaded online under candidate’s login on CASB web portal www.airmenselection.cdac.in. Candidates have to report at the stipulated date and time for Phase – II at the designated Airmen Selection Centre along required documents.
A). Physical Fitness Test (PFT)
As it is discussed earlier defence forces demands certain level of physical fitness. For ensuring this Indian Air Force has formulated a physical fitness test which is given following-
- 1.6 Km run in 6 minutes 30 seconds,
- 20 squat ups (Uthak-Baithak)
- 10 sit ups
- 10 Push-ups.
Note : PFT will be qualifying only. There are no marks assigned to PFT. Candidates are to qualify this only.
B). SRT: Situation Reaction Test (SRT)
Adaptability Test-I is basically the test of Situation Reaction in which takes place just after the PFT if a candidate qualifies PFT. In this test decision making ability, Problem solving attitude, right mind set up is assessed. There will be 45 SRTs which a candidate has to complete within 30 minutes. These SRTs will be objective type and bilingual. Note : PFT will be qualifying only. There are no marks assigned to PFT. Candidates are to qualify this only.
C). Group Discussion (G.D)
Once the candidate clears the Adaptability test-I he goes through the next test which is known as Adaptability test-II which is basically the test of Group discussion. In this discussion a group comprises of some 10-15 candidates who are made to sit in a semi-circle and assigned a topic which is of basic in nature. The topics ranges from current affairs to social events. This test is basically to check the knowledge, communication skill, interpersonal skills and convincing power of the candidate. A little bit of preparation and practice proves very handy for doing well in this test. After all these above examinations candidates are given green cards with the dates and venue of the medical examination which generally takes place after 2 months.
Indian Airforce Agniveer Physical & Medical Standards
To get selected as an Agniveervayu, the candidate must be physically and mentally fit to perform duties in any part of the world, climate and terrain. Physical/ medical standards to become an Agniveervayu are as follows:-
AirForce Agniveer Physical Standard:-
- Height: Minimum acceptable height is 152.5 cms
- Chest: Minimum range of expansion: 5 cm
- Height Measurement
- For Male: 152.5 cm
- For Female: 150 cm
- Chest Measurement
- For Male Only : Chest Expansion min. 5 cm

Candidate shall be physically and mentally FIT to perform duty in any part of the world, in any climate and terrain. |

Body Tattoo | Permanent body tattoo are not permitted, however tattoos only on inner face of the fore arms (inside of elbow to the wrist), back (dorsal) part of the hand/ reverse side of the palm and Tribals with tattoo which are as per the custom traditions of their tribes may be considered. However, right to decide on acceptability/ unacceptability of the individual rests with the Selection Centre. Candidates with permanent body tattoos are to submit two photographs (close up and distinct view) with details of size and type of the tattoo. |

- The application for AMB along with original copy of e-MRO/ MRO, photocopy of Unfitness Certificate are to be submitted to the representative of ASC within three working days of medical examination.

- The recruitment medical officer and the specialist doctors of Armed Forces are the final authorities on declaring a candidate fit or unfit during initial medical examination, appeal medical board and medical examination prior to enrolment.

Airforce Provisional Selection List (PSL).
The PSL (merit-wise) will be prepared after the completion of selection test and the same will be displayed at all the airmen selection centres (ASCs) and also on web portal www.airmenselection.cdac.in on 31 October 2020. Inclusion of names of candidates in the PSL depends upon the performance of the candidates in the selection test and the same is determined by application of cut off marks vis-à-vis number of qualified candidates in Phase-II testing and anticipated vacancy. Inclusion of name in provisional select list (PSL) does not guarantee automatic enrolment. Enrolment is strictly in order of merit subject to medical fitness, availability of vacancies, not exceeding the age of 21 years on date of enrolment and meeting all the laid down eligibility criteria as and when called for enrolment. The validity of the PSL shall be 06 months from the date of display and shall be applicable only for intake- 1 or 2.
Airforce All India Selection List (AISL)- Final Selection List
After passing all these above tests Central Airmen Selection Board prepares All India Select List (AISL) based on the marks secured by the candidates in the examination procedure. Those who make their name in the merit list served with the call letter to join for the Joint Basic Phase Training at Belagavi.

General Guidelines For Candidates by CASB
General instructions for candidates are as follows:-
(a) Candidates must indicate five choices of examination centre and three choices of ASCs in order of preference while filling up the online application form. However, Central Airmen Selection Board reserves the right to allot any centre other than those mentioned in the application.
(b) Request for change of exam center or date of selection test will not be entertained. (c) Candidates not reporting for the test on due date and time shall not be accommodated on other dates/shifts. (d) Duplicate / incomplete / erroneously filled applications shall be rejected. (e) Candidates should be prepared to stay for the entire duration of the tests under their own arrangement. No TA/DA shall be admissible. (f) Candidates are advised to preserve their e-mail ID and password used while online registration as the same would be required to login for viewing online exam result. (g) Candidate should apply only once in response to this advertisement. (h) Candidature of candidates who apply MORE THAN ONCE IN RESPONSE TO THIS ADVERTISEMENT AND OBTAINS different registration numbers for Group ‘X’, Group ‘Y’ or both, SHALL BE REJECTED. (j) Mobile phones / smart watches / electronic gadgets shall not be permitted in the examination hall for Phase – 1 test.
