The National Defence Academy (NDA) is the officer defence service training institute of the Indian Armed Forces, where only male cadets were given officer’s training. But in compliance with the interim direction of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, now women candidates have also been allowed to take part in the National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination. In NDA, cadets of the three services i.e. the Indian Army, the Indian Navy and the Indian Air Force train together before they go on to respective service academy for further pre-commission training. The NDA is located in Khadakwasla, Pune, Maharashtra. It is the first tri-service academy in the world. To now more about NDA Eligibility Criteria:

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) of India conducts NDA examination to select eligible candidates as Commissioned Officers in Indian Armed Forces. NDA selection process comprises two stages – 1. written exam and 2. Service Selection Board (SSB) interview. First, all candidates who fills NDA online registration form need to appear in the written exam. Candidates qualifying the written exam need to appear for SSB Interview for Intelligence and Personality Test.

NDA-I Application Form 2022

Union Public Service Commission has released NDA (I) 2022 application form for men & women candidates. The unmarried candidates who fulfil the eligibility criteria in terms of nationality, age, marital status, educational qualification, etc. as per the NDA (I) 2022 notification published on 30-12-2021, can apply for the exam. The physical standards and number of vacancies for women candidates will be informed later after it is notified by the Ministry of Defence. NDA application form comprises two parts, I & II. Candidates can check below the steps to fill the application form.

NDA Eligibility Criteria

Preparations are underway at the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla (Pune) for the induction of women cadets. Training and administrative arrangements will be made at NDA for the future women cadets. The induction of women for the three-year training course at NDA is a major step in ensuring gender equality. Now women candidates can hold a permanent commission, combat, and command roles in the defence services.

Ministry of Defence will formulate age, nature of training, intake strength, training standards, medical and physical standards for women candidates. Besides, physical infrastructure such as residential quarters for women with strict physical separation, including separate bathroom cubicles, will be constructed. Equitation, swimming, games and sports facilities will be developed for the female cadets.

NDA Eligibility Criteria: Nationality

To apply for NDA, candidates must be

1) A citizen of India or

2) A subject of Nepal or

3) A subject of Bhutan

4) A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India or

5) A person originally Indian who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India

Provided that a candidate belonging to categories 2, 3, 4, and 5 must be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Indian government. Certificate of eligibility is not required for Gorkha candidates from Nepal.

NDA Eligibility Criteria: Age Limit

The age limit of candidates should be as given below.

  • For NDA 2, candidates must have born not earlier than January 2, 2002, and not later than January 1, 2005
  • For NDA 1, candidates should be born not earlier than July 2, 2001, and not later than July 1, 2004 
  • The commission will accept the date of birth that is entered into Class 10 or 12 certificates
  • Candidates need to submit these certificates after the declaration of the result of the written exam

NDA Eligibility Criteria: Educational Qualification

The educational qualification prescribed for admission to the different academies is given below.

The Army wing of NDA Passed Class 12 or equivalent examination from a recognized board
The Air Force and Naval wings of NDA and 10+2 Cadet entry scheme at INA Passed Class 12 or equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics
  • Candidates who are appearing in Class 12 or equivalent examination can apply
  • Candidates appearing in Class 11 exam are not eligible

NDA Eligibility Criteria: Marital Status

Only unmarried male and female candidates can apply for the exam. Candidates should not marry until they complete their training. Candidates who marry during the training will be discharged and have to refund all expenditure spend on them by the government.

Candidates must be physically fit according to the physical standards for the NDA exam.

Height & Weight for Army and Air Force

The minimum height prescribed is 157 cms (For Air Force it is 162.5 cms). Certain exceptions are applicable for candidates based on the region from where they belong.

Candidates who wish to be pilot need to fulfill the following requirements.

Visual Standards

  • The distance vision (corrected) of candidates should be 6/6 in the better eye and 6/9 in the worse eye
  • Myopia should not be more than 2.5 D
  • Hyper metropia not more than 3.5 D including astigmatism

Guidelines regarding Tattoos

  • Candidates must ensure that any permanent body tattoos should be present only on their inner side of forearm
  • Under no circumstances, UPSC accepts tattoos on the inside of the elbow to the wrist and on the reverse side of palm/back (dorsal) side of the hand
  • Permanent body tattoos on any other part of the body are also not acceptable
  • In case a candidate belongs to a tribe where it is customary to have tattoo, acceptance will be granted considering the traditions involved

Spinal Conditions

Candidates must not have the following diseases.

  • Granulomatous disease of spine
  • Arthritis/spondylosis (Rheumatoid arthritis and allied disorders / Ankylosing spondylitis/ Osteoarthrosis, spondylosis and degenerative joint disease / Non-articular rheumatism (e.g. lesions of the rotator cuff, tennis elbow, recurrent lumbago etc.) & Miscellaneous disorders including SLE, polymyositis, vasculitis
  • Spondylolisthesis/spondylolysis
  • Compression fracture of vertebrae
  • SC Heuerman’s disease (Adolescent kyphosis)
  • Loss of cervical lordosis when associated with clinically restricted movements of cervical spine
  • Unilateral / Bilateral cervical ribs with demon stable neurological or circulatory deficit
  • Scoliosis more than 15 degree as measured by Cobb’s method
  • Degenerative Disc. disease
  • Presence of Schmorl’s nodes at more than one level
  • Atlanto-occipital and atlantoaxial anomalies
  • Hemi vertebrae and/or incomplete block (fused) vertebrae at any level in cervical, dorsal or lumbar spine and complete block (fused) vertebrae at more than one level in cervical or dorsal spine
  • Unilateral Sacralisation or lumbarisation (Complete or incomplete) at all levels and bilateral incomplete sacralisation or lumbarisation
  • Any other abnormality if so considered by the specialist

X-Ray Exam

Any of the following conditions will disqualify the candidature of candidates.

  • Granulomatous disease of spine.
  • Arthritis / spondylosis      
  • Scoliosis more than 15 degree as measured by Cobb’s Method (10 degree for Army and Navy).
  • More than mild Kyphosis/Lordosis
  • Spondylolisthesis / Spondylosis / Spondylolysis
  • Herniated nucleus pulposes
  • Compression fracture of Vertebra
  • Sacralisation Disease
  • Cervical ribs with demonstrable neurological or Circulatory deficit
  • Presence of Schmorl’s node at more than one level
  • Atlanto-occipital and atlanto-axial anomalies
  • Incomplete Sacralisation Unilateral or Bilateral
  • Spina Bifida other than SV 1 and LV 5 if completely Sacralised
  • Any other abnormality, if so considered by specialist

Other medical conditions 

  • There should not be any symptoms of the weak constitution or bodily defects
  • Candidates must have a well-developed chest
  • The function of the bones or joints should be good
  • No history of medical breakdown or fits
  • Candidates must have normal hearing capabilities
  • No impediment of speech
  • Normal blood pressure with no signs of heart disease or blood vessel disease
  • No liver or spleen enlargement
  • No abnormalities in urine
  • No skin diseases
  • No abnormalities in USG abdomen examination
  • A sufficient number of natural and sound teeth
  • Routine ECG for Air Force candidates must fall within normal limits

1. NDA Selection Process 2021 – Written Exam

The written exam is the first stage of NDA selection procedure. The successful candidates of written exam of NDA recruitment will be called to appear for SSB Interview. The details regarding the written exam is given below –

  • The written exam comprises two subjects – Mathematics and General Ability Test (GAT)
  • Total marks of written exam is 900
  • The test will be held for 2 ½ hours
  • The test paper will have objective type questions
  • The language of question paper for both the subjects will be set in Hindi and English
  • Candidates must at least secure 25% NDA selection marks in each subject of written exam

2. NDA Selection Process 2021 – SSB Interview

Candidates who clear the NDA exam 2021 will be called for SSB interview at various selection centres. NDA SSB Interview is a five-day process held at Indian Armed Force selection centres. NDA SSB day 1 comprises Picture Perception & Discussion Test (PPDT) and Officer Intelligence Rating Test (OIR). Shortlisted candidates on day 1 are retained at the selection centre for the next four days. The further NDA interview process comprises Psychology Tests, Group Testing Officers Task (GTO), Personal Interview and Conference of NDA selection process. 3. NDA Selection Process 2021 – Medical Examination

Recommended candidates from SSB interview of NDA selection process will be called for medical examination. In SSB medical exam, candidates will be tested on various factors like height, weight, physical fitness and others. Candidates declared physically fit in all respects will be commissioned as Cadets in various academies of Indian Army Forces.

Candidates appearing for the NDA interview process have to carry the below-mentioned documents.

  • Original 10th pass certificate or equivalent in support of date of birth
  • Original 10+2 pass certificate or equivalent in support of educational qualification

NDA Selection Process 2021 – Final Merit List

  • To get acquainted in Indian Armed Forces through NDA 2021 need to secure a minimum NDA cut off 2021 to get an SSB call letter.
  • Candidates appearing for Indian Air Force have to qualify Computerised Pilot Selection System (CPSS).
  • The final result of the NDA 2021 selection process will be prepared on the basis of performance in the written exam and SSB interview.

NDA Selection Process 2021 – Reasons for candidate’s disqualification

  • Candidates previously rejected on the basis of medical standards are not allowed to attend the SSB interview of the NDA selection process.
  • Candidates who were withdrawn previously from NDA/NA on medical grounds or left the training voluntarily will be eligible for admission only if they qualify for the medical fitness test.

Syllabus For NDA Exam 2021

PAPER-I: MATHEMATICS (Maximum Marks- 300)

1. ALGEBRA: Concept of set, operations on sets, Venn diagrams. De Morgan laws. Cartesian product, relation, equivalence relation. Representation of real numbers on a line.   Complex numbers – basic properties, modulus, argument, cube roots of unity. Binary system of numbers. Conversion of a number in decimal system to binary system and vice-versa. Arithmetic, Geometric and Harmonic progressions. Quadratic equations with real coefficients. Solution of linear in equations of two variables by graphs. Permutation and Combination. Binomial theorem and its applications. Logarithms and their Applications.

2. MATRICES AND DETERMINANTS: Types of matrices, operations on matrices.  Determinant of a matrix, basic properties of determinants. Adjoint and inverse of a square matrix, Applications – Solution of a system of linear equations in two or three unknowns by Cramer’s rule and by Matrix Method.

3. TRIGONOMETRY: Angles and their measures in degrees and in radians. Trigonometrical ratios. Trigonometric identities Sum and difference formulae. Multiple and Sub-multiple angles. Inverse trigonometric functions. Applications – Height and distance, properties of triangles.

4. ANALYTICAL GEOMETRY OF TWO AND THREE DIMENSIONS: : Rectangular  Cartesian Coordinate system. Distance formula. Equation of a line in various forms. Angle between two lines. Distance of a point from a line. Equation of a circle in standard and in general form. Standard forms of parabola, ellipse and hyperbola. Eccentricity and axis of a conic. 5. DIFFERENTIAL CALCULUS: Concept of a real valued function – domain, range and graph of a function. Composite functions, one to one, onto and inverse functions. Notion of limit, Standard limits – examples. Continuity of functions – examples, algebraic operations on continuous functions. Derivative of function at a point, geometrical and physical interpretation of a derivative – applications. Derivatives of sum, product and quotient of functions, derivative of a function with respect to another function, derivative of a composite function. Second order derivatives. Increasing and decreasing functions. Application of derivatives in problems of maxima and minima.

6. INTEGRAL CALCULUS AND DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS: Integration as inverse of differentiation, integration by substitution and by parts, standard integrals involving algebraic expressions, trigonometric, exponential and hyperbolic functions. Evaluation of definite integrals – determination of areas of plane regions bounded by curves – applications. Definition of order and degree of a differential equation, formation of a differential equation by examples. General and particular solution of a differential equations, solution of first order and first degree differential equations of various types – examples. Application in problems of growth and decay.

7. VECTOR ALGEBRA: Vectors in two and three dimensions, magnitude and direction of a vector. Unit and null vectors, addition of vectors, scalar multiplication of a vector, scalar product or dot product of two vectors. Vector product or cross product of two vectors. Applications-work done by a force and moment of a force and in geometrical problems.

8. STATISTICS AND PROBABILITY: Statistics: Classification of data, Frequency distribution, And cumulative frequency distribution – examples. Graphical representation – Histogram, Pie Chart, frequency polygon – examples. Measures of Central tendency – Mean, median and mode. Variance and standard deviation – determination and comparison. Correlation and regression. Probability: Random experiment, outcomes and associated sample space, events, mutually exclusive and exhaustive events, impossible and certain events. Union and Intersection of events. Complementary, elementary and composite events. Definition of probability – classical and statistical – examples. Elementary theorems on probability – simple problems. Conditional probability, Bayes’ theorem – simple problems. Random variable as function on a sample space. Binomial distribution, examples of random experiments giving rise to Binominal distribution.

PAPER-II: GENERAL ABILITY TEST (Maximum Marks-600)

Part ‘A’ – ENGLISH (Maximum Marks 200)

The question paper in English will be designed to test the candidate’s understanding of English and workman like use of words. The syllabus covers various aspects like: Grammar and usage, vocabulary, comprehension and cohesion in extended text to test the candidate’s proficiency in English.

Part ‘B’ – GENERAL KNOWLEDGE (Maximum Marks-400)

The question paper on General Knowledge will broadly cover the subjects: Physics, Chemistry, General Science, Social Studies, Geography and Current Events. The syllabus given below is designed to indicate the scope of these subjects included in this paper. The topics mentioned are not to be regarded as exhaustive and questions on topics of similar nature not specifically mentioned in the syllabus may also be asked. Candidate’s answers are expected to show their knowledge and intelligent understanding of the subject.

Section ‘A’ (Physics): Physical Properties and States of Matter, Mass, Weight, Volume, Density and Specific Gravity, Principle of Archimedes, Pressure Barometer. Motion of objects, Velocity and Acceleration, Newton’s Laws of Motion, Force and Momentum, Parallelogram of Forces, Stability and Equilibrium of bodies, Gravitation, elementary ideas of work, Power and Energy. NDA Previous years’ question papers & marking scheme

It is recommended to go through the previous years’ NDA question papers. Candidates will get an idea of the type of questions asked in the exam. Multiple-choice questions are asked in the exam. The language of questions is either Hindi or English. In Mathematics, candidates will score 2.5 marks for the correct answers while 0.83 marks will be deducted for wrong answers. NDA Cut off 2021 for written exam

The cut off of NDA for this stage is decided out of 900 marks. UPSC also decides sectional NDA cut off for the written exam. The sectional cut off is calculated on the basis of the total marks of each section. The sectional NDA cut off is different for NDA 1 and 2 exams. In 2018, the sectional NDA 1 and 2 cut-offs were 25% in each subject. In 2016, the sectional NDA 2 cut off was 20% while it was 25% for NDA 1 in the same year.

AFCAT – EKT Syllabus

AFCAT EKT is a 45 minute exam and is followed by AFCAT. Candidates are given half an hour window after which AFCAT EKT Exam takes place. The total duration for AFCAT exam is 2 hours and the mode of examination is online.

The AFCAT EKT Exam Syllabus has a General engineering part which is based on the common topics of multiple branches of engineering. Also, based on the degree of the candidate, there are questions from the specialized part. These involve the following:

The Indian Air Force reserves the right to set and make changes in the exam pattern and syllabus of AFCAT exam.  

The AFCAT syllabus is classified as follows-

Physical Conditioning for AFCAT 2 2021

You are advised to be physically fit when you report for SSB in order to be able to undergo the tests at AFSB.

  • You should aim to achieve an ability to run 01 mile (1.6 kms) in 10 minutes.
  • do 10 push ups and 03 chin ups.
  • Prospective candidates are also advised to keep themselves in good physical condition to adapt to physical training at AFA.
  • which encompasses running, swimming, rope climbing and other forms of physical training/ conditioning in which they would undergo mandatory tests during training.

AFCAT- AFSB interview :-

Stage I – This comprises the OIR – Officer Intelligence Rating Test along with PP&DT – Picture Perception and discussion test. Candidates who qualify the screening test of stage I are subject to document verification and eligibility check for the branches they have applied to.

Stage II – Psychological test will be conducted on Day 1(Afternoon) and the Group Tests and Interview would commence after document check for the next five days.

Stage III – This test is for Flying Branch. It consists of a test called the Computerised Pilot Selection System – CPSS. This is a once in a lifetime test. Those who fail in this test are not eligible for Flying Training at all. 

For Flying Branch. – Computerised Pilot Selection System (CPSS) would be administered to recommended candidates only. This is once in a lifetime test. Candidates who have failed the CPSS/ PABT in an earlier attempt or a Flight Cadet suspended from flying training at Air Force Academy will not be eligible.

Final Selection After Medical Test – IAF prepares a final merit list and selects only the candidates who are able to score the minimum qualifying marks in the AFCAT online exam and the AFSB interview rounds separately. The qualifying marks are set by the Indian Air Force itself. Candidates are placed in the merit order based on the total marks obtained by them in the AFCAT written exam and AFSB interview rounds.

AFCAT 2 Recruitment 2021 Final Merit List

Final merit list shall be prepared on the basis of the total marks secured by them in the written examination and in the AFSB tests.

AFCAT 2 Training

  • Training will commence in the first week of Jan 2022 for all courses at Air Force Academy Dundigal (Hyderabad).
  • The duration of training for Flying and Ground Duty (Technical) Branches is 74 weeks and that of Ground Duty (Non-Technical) Branches is 52 weeks at Air Force Training Establishments.
  • PAN Card and account in SBI/ Nationalised Bank is mandatory at the time of joining Air Force Academy.
  • Aadhaar Card is mandatory for registration.

    NDA Exam Pattern Details

    Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts NDA (National defence academy) and National Academy (NA) Exam (II) twice in a year for admission into Army, Navy, and Air Force Wings. Minimum Educational Qualification is 12th Class pass in 10+2 Pattern. The UPSC NDA & NA exam pattern details are given below…

    Exam Pattern: The UPSC NDA exam comprises of 2 stages.
    I.  Written Examination
    II.  Interview

    I. Written Examination: There will be 2 papers in NDA (National defence academy) and National Academy (NA) written exam. The papers in all the subjects will consist of objective type questions only. The question papers of Mathematics & Part B of General Ability Test will be set bilingually in Hindi as well as English. Time duration for each paper is 2 ½ Hours . Subjects & Maximum Marks details mentioned below.

    i. In the question papers, wherever necessary , questions involving the metric system of Weights and Measures only will be set.

    iii. The candidates are not permitted to use calculator or mathematical or logarithmic table for answering objective type papers.

    II. Interview: Candidates who select in the written examination are called for Interview which is conducted by SSB.

    NDA Selection Procedure Details: 

    Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts NDA (National Defence Academy) & NA (National Academy) Exam-II. The candidates who are eligible apply through online. Minimum Educational Qualification is 12 th Class pass in 10+2 Pattern. The selection process is based on Written Test & SSB Interview. The details are as follows…

    Selection Procedure:

    UPSC conducts  NDA (National Defence Academy)  Exam in Two Stages.
    I. Written Examination
    II. Interview

    I. Written Examination: The exam will constitute 2 subjects, Maths and General Ability Test and each subject is given the time limit 2 ½ Hours, maximum marks for Maths is 300 & General ability is 600. The papers in all the subjects will consist of objective type questions only. The question papers of Mathematics & Part B of General Ability Test will be set bilingually in Hindi as well as English. The Commission have discretion to fix qualifying marks in any or all the subjects at the examination.

    II. Interview: Qualified candidates in the written examination will be called for Interview conducted by SSB (Services selection board). For Army, Navy Wings & 10 +2 Entry Scheme candidates need to undergo Intelligence Test & Personality Test, but for Air Force Wing the candidates must attend a Pilot Aptitude Test. The Interview Consists both Intelligence & Personality Test.

    Intelligence and Personality Test:
    The SSB procedure consists of two stage Selection process-stage I and stage II. Only those candidates who clear the stage I are permitted to appear for stage II. The details are :
    a. Stage I comprises of Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) tests are Picture Perception Description Test (PP&DT). The candidates will be shortlisted based on combination of performance in QIR Test and PP and DT.
    b.  Stage II Comprises of Interview, Group Testing Officer Tasks, Psychology Tests and the Conference. These tests are conducted over 4 days.
    The personality of a candidate is assessed by three different assessors viz. the Interviewing Officer (IO), Group Testing Officer (GTO)and the Psychologist. There are no separate weightage for each test. The marks are allotted by assessors only after taking into consideration the performance of the candidate holistically in all the test. In addition, marks for Conference are also alloted based on the initial perfomance of the caniddate in the three techniques and decision of the Board. All these have equal weightage.
    The various tests of IO, GTO and Psych are designed to bring out the presence/ absence of Officer Like Qualities and their trainability in a candidate. Accordingly candidates are Recommended or Not Recommended at the SSB.

    N.B: Air force given pilot aptitude test only once for the candidate’s .The test selected candidates will go to every subsequent Interview.

    NDA Eligibility Criteria

    The Examination of the NDA (National Defence Academy) & ND (National Defence) is conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) twice in a year to recruit the candidates in Army, Navy & Air Force wings of National Defence Academy. Eligible candidates apply through online. The eligibility details of the UPSC NDA & NA exam are given below…

    1. Nationality: 
    A candidate must be either be a
    (i) a citizen of India, or
    (ii). a subject of Bhutan, or
    (iii). a subject of Nepal, or
    (iv). a Tibetan refugee who came ovbet ot India before the 01 January , 1962 with the intention of spermanently settling in India, or
    (v). a Person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawim Zaire and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently setting in India. Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) and (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India. Certificate of eligibility will not, however, be necessary in the case of candidates who are Gorkha subjetcs of Nepal.

    2. Age:  Only Unmarried Male Candidates born not earlier than 2nd Jan, 2002  and not later than 1st Jan, 2005 are eligible.

    Sex: Only unmarried male candidates are eligible.

    3. Educational Qualifications:

    (i) For Army wing of National Defence Academy: 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University.

    (ii) For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy and for the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy: 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics conducted by a State Education Board or a University.

    Candidates who are appearing in the 12th Class under 10+2 Pattern of School Education or equivalent examination can also apply for this examination.

    4. Physical Standards: Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (II), 2020.

    Note: A candidate who has resigned or withdrawn on disciplinary grounds from any of the training academies of Armed Forces is not eligible to apply.

    NDA Syllabus:

    Union public service commission conducts National Defence Academy (NDA) & Naval Academy (NA) exam twice in a year for admission to Indian Navy, Army & Air Force Wings. Minimum Educational Qualification is 12th class pass in 10+2 pattern.  The examination conducts in 2 stages, written examination and interview. The details regarding Syllabus are as follows…

    Syllabus of the Examination:

    PAPER-I: MATHEMATICS (Maximum Marks- 300)

    1. ALGEBRA: Concept of set, operations on sets, Venn diagrams. De Morgan laws. Cartesian product, relation, equivalence relation. Representation of real numbers on a line.   Complex numbers – basic properties, modulus, argument, cube roots of unity. Binary system of numbers. Conversion of a number in decimal system to binary system and vice-versa. Arithmetic, Geometric and Harmonic progressions. Quadratic equations with real coefficients. Solution of linear in equations of two variables by graphs. Permutation and Combination. Binomial theorem and its applications. Logarithms and their Applications.

    2. MATRICES AND DETERMINANTS: Types of matrices, operations on matrices.  Determinant of a matrix, basic properties of determinants. Adjoint and inverse of a square matrix, Applications – Solution of a system of linear equations in two or three unknowns by Cramer’s rule and by Matrix Method.

    3. TRIGONOMETRY: Angles and their measures in degrees and in radians. Trigonometrical ratios. Trigonometric identities Sum and difference formulae. Multiple and Sub-multiple angles. Inverse trigonometric functions. Applications – Height and distance, properties of triangles.

    4. ANALYTICAL GEOMETRY OF TWO AND THREE DIMENSIONS: : Rectangular  Cartesian Coordinate system. Distance formula. Equation of a line in various forms. Angle between two lines. Distance of a point from a line. Equation of a circle in standard and in general form. Standard forms of parabola, ellipse and hyperbola. Eccentricity and axis of a conic. Point in a three dimensional space, distance between two points. Direction Cosines and direction ratios. Equation of a plane and a line in various forms. Angle between two lines and angle between two planes. Equation of a sphere.

    5. DIFFERENTIAL CALCULUS: Concept of a real valued function – domain, range and graph of a function. Composite functions, one to one, onto and inverse functions. Notion of limit, Standard limits – examples. Continuity of functions – examples, algebraic operations on continuous functions. Derivative of function at a point, geometrical and physical interpretation of a derivative – applications. Derivatives of sum, product and quotient of functions, derivative of a function with respect to another function, derivative of a composite function. Second order derivatives. Increasing and decreasing functions. Application of derivatives in problems of maxima and minima.

    6. INTEGRAL CALCULUS AND DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS: Integration as inverse of differentiation, integration by substitution and by parts, standard integrals involving algebraic expressions, trigonometric, exponential and hyperbolic functions. Evaluation of definite integrals – determination of areas of plane regions bounded by curves – applications. Definition of order and degree of a differential equation, formation of a differential equation by examples. General and particular solution of a differential equations, solution of first order and first degree differential equations of various types – examples. Application in problems of growth and decay.

    7. VECTOR ALGEBRA: Vectors in two and three dimensions, magnitude and direction of a vector. Unit and null vectors, addition of vectors, scalar multiplication of a vector, scalar product or dot product of two vectors. Vector product or cross product of two vectors. Applications-work done by a force and moment of a force and in geometrical problems.

    8. STATISTICS AND PROBABILITY: Statistics: Classification of data, Frequency distribution, And cumulative frequency distribution – examples. Graphical representation – Histogram, Pie Chart, frequency polygon – examples. Measures of Central tendency – Mean, median and mode. Variance and standard deviation – determination and comparison. Correlation and regression. Probability: Random experiment, outcomes and associated sample space, events, mutually exclusive and exhaustive events, impossible and certain events. Union and Intersection of events. Complementary, elementary and composite events. Definition of probability – classical and statistical – examples. Elementary theorems on probability – simple problems. Conditional probability, Bayes’ theorem – simple problems. Random variable as function on a sample space. Binomial distribution, examples of random experiments giving rise to Binominal distribution.

    PAPER-II: GENERAL ABILITY TEST (Maximum Marks-600)

    Part ‘A’ – ENGLISH (Maximum Marks 200)

    The question paper in English will be designed to test the candidate’s understanding of English and workman like use of words. The syllabus covers various aspects like: Grammar and usage, vocabulary, comprehension and cohesion in extended text to test the candidate’s proficiency in English.

    Part ‘B’ – GENERAL KNOWLEDGE (Maximum Marks-400)

    The question paper on General Knowledge will broadly cover the subjects: Physics, Chemistry, General Science, Social Studies, Geography and Current Events. Rectilinear propagation of Light, Reflection and refraction. Spherical mirrors and Lenses. Human Eye. Natural and Artificial Magnets, Properties of a Magnet, Earth as a Magnet. Static and Current Electricity, conductors and Non-conductors, Ohm’s Law, Simple Electrical Circuits, Heating, Lighting and Magnetic effects of Current, Measurement of Electrical Power, Primary and Secondary Cells, Use of X-Rays. General Principles in the working of the following : Simple Pendulum, Simple Pulleys, Siphon, Levers, Balloon, Pumps, Hydrometer, Pressure Cooker, Thermos Flask, Gramophone, Telegraphs, Telephone, Periscope, Telescope, Microscope, Mariner’s Compass; Lightening Conductors, Safety Fuses.

    Section ‘B’ (Chemistry): Physical and Chemical changes. Elements, Mixtures and Compounds, Symbols, Formulae and simple Chemical Equations, Law of Chemical Combination (excluding problems). Properties of Air and Water. Preparation and Properties of Hydrogen, Oxygen, Nitrogen and Carbon dioxide, Oxidation and Reduction. Acids, bases and salts. Carbon – different forms. Fertilizers – Natural and Artificial Material used in the preparation of substances like soap, Glass, Ink, Paper, Cement, Paints, Safety Matches, and Gun-Powder. Elementary ideas about the Structure of Atom, Atomic, Equivalent and Molecular Weights, Valency.

    Section ‘C’ (General Science): Difference between the living and non- living. Basis of Life – Cells, Protoplasm’s and Tissues. Growth and Reproduction in Plants and Animals. Elementary knowledge of Human Body and its important organs. Common Epidemics, their causes and prevention. Food – Source of Energy for man. Constituents of food, Balanced Diet. The Solar System – Meteors and Comets, Eclipses. Achievements of Eminent Scientists.

    Section ‘D’ (History, Freedom Movement etc.): A broad survey of Indian History, with emphasis on Culture and Civilizations. Freedom Movement in India. Elementary study of Indian Constitution and Administration. Elementary knowledge of Five Year Plans of India. Panchayati Raj, Co-operatives and Community Development. Bhoodan, Sarvodaya, National Integration and Welfare State, Basic Teachings of Mahatma Gandhi. Forces shaping the modern world; Renaissance, Exploration and Discovery; War of American Independence. French Revolution, Industrial Revolution and Russian Revolution. Impact of Science and Technology on Society. Concept of one World, United Nations, Panchsheel, Democracy. Socialism and Communism. Role of India in the present world.

    Section ‘E’ (Geography): The Earth, its shape and size. Latitudes and Longitudes, Concept of time. International Date Line. Movements of Earth and their effects. Origin of Earth. Rocks and their classification; Weathering – Mechanical and Chemical, Earthquakes and volcanoes. Ocean Currents and Tides Atmosphere and its composition; Temperature and Atmospheric Pressure, Planetary Winds, cyclones and Anti-cyclones; Humidity; Condensation and Precipitation; Types of Climate. Major Natural regions of the World. Regional Geography of India – Climate, Natural vegetation. Mineral and Power resources; location and distribution of agricultural and industrial activities. Important Sea ports and main sea, land and air routes of India. Main items of Imports and Exports of India.

    Section ‘F’ (Current Events): Knowledge of Important events that have happened in India in the recent years. Current important world events. Prominent personalities – both Indian and International including those connected with cultural activities and sports.

    NOTE : Out of maximum marks assigned to part ‘B’ of this paper, questions on Sections ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’, ‘D’, ‘E’ and ‘F’ will carry approximately 25%, 15%, 10%, 20%, 20% and 10% weight ages respectively.

    Indian Army Recruitment Ahmedabad 2021 : There is good news for the soldiers preparing for the Indian Army, ARO Ahmedabad has released the official employment notification  for the recruitment of Soldier G.D, Soldier Clerk, Technical, Tradesman, Nursing Assistant Vacancies. 

    Army Recruitment Rally will be held for eligible candidates of districts Anand, Valsad, Tapi, Dangs, Navasari, Sabarkantha, Vadodra, Mehsana, Surat, Banaskantha, Narmada, Mahisagar, Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Aravali, Chhota Udepur, Bharuch, Kheda, Dahod, Panchmahals & UTs of Daman, Dadra & Nagar Haveli from 05 August 2021 to 22 August at Kanelav Sports Complex, Godhra, Panchmahal. Online registration is mandatory and will be open from 06 June 2021 and close on 20 July 2021.

    Candidates will login after 21 July 2021 and take printout of the admit card which they will carry to Rally Site. Admit Card for the rally will be sent through registered email from 21 July 2021 to 04 August 2021. Candidates should reach the venue on given date and time as mentioned in the Admit Card. The date and venue are tentative and might be changed. District of Patan is now a part of ARO Jamnagar & candidates from Patan must apply for Rally notification of ARO Jamnagar.

    • Chest should be well developed having minimum 5 cm expension.
    • Should have normal hearing with each ear and good binocular vision in both eyes. He should be able to read 6/6 in distant vision chart with each eye. Color vision should be CP – III (able to recognize white, red and green signal colors correctly as shown by Martin’s Lantern at 1.5 meters).
    • Should have sufficient number of natural healthy gum and teeth i.e. minimum 14 dental points.
    • Should not have diseases like deformity of bones, hydrocele and varicocele or piles.
    • Soldier General Duty for Infantry should have 6/6 eye sight.

    Army Rally Bharti Physical For Male Candidates:

    • 1.6 Km Race or 1600 meter or 1 Mile Run.
    • Pull ups
    • Push ups
    • Balance test
    • 9 Feet Ditch

    Race Timing For Indian Army Sol. G.D, Clerk/SKT, Tradesman, N.A, Technical:-

    • Group I : Race Completed within 5 Minutes and 30 Seconds – 60 Marks
    • Group II : Race Completed within 5 Minutes and 30 Seconds – 48 Marks

    Beam, Pull ups : Number of Pull Ups and marks awarded is as under: 

    • 10 Pull Ups on beam – 40 Markss
    • 9 Pull Ups on beam – 33 Markss
    • 8 Pull Ups on beam – 27 Markss
    • 7 Pull Ups on beam – 21 Markss
    • 6 Pull Ups on beam – 16 Markss

    Medical Standards for Indian Army Patiala Recruitment 2021

    • A candidate should have robust physique and good mental health.
    • Chest should be well developed having minimum 5 cm expension.
    • Should have normal hearing with each ear and good binocular vision in both eyes. He should be able to read 6/6 in distant vision chart with each eye. Color vision should be CP – III (able to recognize white, red and green signal colors correctly as shown by Martin’s Lantern at 1.5 meters).
    • Should have sufficient number of natural healthy gum and teeth i.e. minimum 14 dental points.
    • Should not have diseases like deformity of bones, hydrocele and varicocele or piles.
    • Soldier General Duty for Infantry should have 6/6 eye sight.
