ARMY TECHNICAL – NATURE OF WORK
The Indian Army has a large collection of vehicles, weapons and equipment, which must be regularly operated and maintained. For this task, the Army needs recruits who have sound technical knowledge. This is when Soldier (Technical) recruits come handy!
Technical recruits hail from science background and are trained in areas such as electrical, mechanical and other technical fields. They can seamlessly fit into areas such as – arms, artillery, army air defence, aviation and ammunition.
There are two categories within the Soldier (Technical) post. They are –

Age & Educational Qualification For Indian Army Technical (M.E.R)
Nationality: Candidates must be citizens of India and unmarried.
Age Limits: Between 17.5 to 23 years, as per the original documents (10th class DMC) of the student.
Educational Qualifications: For Technical
- 10+2/Intermediate Exam pass in Science with Physics, Chemistry, Maths and English with min 50% marks in aggregate and min 40% marks in each subject

The Very first step is to find the advertisment on sources like employment newspaper, the internet or by contacting the nearest recruiting office of your zone. the dates are then announced on notice boards and media sources which include the important information about the required documents like: Extra physical activities certificates, 10 Class Dmc for birth proof, 12 Class Dmc for Qualification Proof, Character certificate, Domicile and latest 30-40 Passport size photos.
Next Step is to Fill the Online Registration Form on Official Site of Indian Army as per your zone and upload the required document. finally submit your form and wait for Admit card. You can Download the admit card online and take a printout of it.

Physical Standards for Indian Army Technical (M.E.R)
1. Height & Weight Required For Indian Army Technical:-
- Height – Minimum 170 cm
- Chest – After the expansion should not be less than 77 cm, there must be minimum expansion of 5cm.
- Weight – Should not be less than 50 kg.

3. Physical Fitness Tests (PFT) In Indian Army Technical:-
To determine the Physical Fitness, the following tests carrying 100 marks are held:-
- 1.6 Km Race or 1600 meter or 1 Mile Run.
- Pull ups
- Balance test
- 9 Feet Ditch
Marking system is as follows:
(a) 1600 meter Race/ 1.6 Km / 1 MILE RUN
- Group I : Race Completed within 5 Minutes and 30 Seconds – 60 Marks
- Group II : Race Completed within 5 Minutes and 30 Seconds – 48 Marks
(b) Beam/PULL UPS
- 10 Pull Ups on beam – 40 Markss
- 9 Pull Ups on beam – 33 Markss
- 8 Pull Ups on beam – 27 Markss
- 7 Pull Ups on beam – 21 Markss
- 6 Pull Ups on beam – 16 Markss
(c) Balance Test : These are qualifying test and no marks are awarded.
(d) 9 Feet Ditch: These are qualifying test and no marks are awarded.
Medical Standards for Indian Army Technical (M.E.R)
- A candidate should have robust physique and good mental health.
- Chest should be well developed having minimum 5 cms expension.
- Should have normal hearing with each ear and good binocular vision in both eyes. He should be able to read 6/6 in distant vision chart with each eye. Colour vision should be CP – III (able to recognize white, red and green signal colours correctly as shown by Martin’s Lantern at 1.5 meters).
- Should have sufficient number of natural healthy gum and teeth i.e. minimum 14 dental points.
- Should not have diseases like deformity of bones, hydrocele and varicocele or piles.
- Soldier General Duty for Infantry should have 6/6 eye sight.
