The Indian Army (Hindi: Bhāratīya Thal Sēnā) is the land-based branch and the largest component of the Indian Armed Forces. The President of India is the Supreme Commander of the Indian Army, and its professional head is the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), who is a four-star general. Two officers have been conferred with the rank of field marshal, a five-star rank, which is a ceremonial position of great honour. Indian Army Day is celebrated on 15 January every year in India
Students (male only) who passed their 10th / 12th or Graduation in Any stream with min. 40-50% marks. you can apply for Officer’s and non-officer’s rank in Indian Army.

Facts about Indian Army :-
- 1776 में कोलकाता में ईस्ट इंडिया कंपनी के सरकार के दौरान इंडियन आर्मी का गठन हुआ था.
- समुद्र के 5000 मीटर ऊपर स्थित सियाचिन ग्लेशियर विश्व की सबसी ऊंची युद्धभूमि है. इस पर इंडियन आर्मी का कब्जा है.
- 3. हिमालय के द्रास और सुरु नदियों के बीच स्थित बेली ब्रिज विश्व का सबसे बड़ा ब्रिज है. इसे इंडियन आर्मी ने 1982 में बनाया था.
- यूएसए और चीन के बाद इंडियन आर्मी विश्व का तीसरा सबसे बड़ा मिलिट्री कंटिंजेंट है.
- दूसरे सरकारी संगठनों की तुलना में इंडियन आर्मड फोर्सेज में जाति या धर्म के आधार पर मिलने वाली आरक्षण की व्यवस्था नहीं है.
- 2013 में उत्तराखंड के बाढ़ पीड़ितों को बचाने के लिए चलाया जाने वाला ‘ऑपरेशन राहत’ विश्व का सबसे बड़ा सिविलियन रेस्क्यू ऑपरेशन था.
- प्रेसिडेंट के बॉर्डीगार्ड इंडियन आर्मी के सबसे पुराने सैन्य दल हैं. यह 1773 में स्थापित हुआ था. यह अभी नई दिल्ली के राष्ट्रपति भवन में तैनात है.
- भारतीय सैनिक सबसे ऊंची और पर्वतीय युद्धों के लिए सबसे अच्छे माने जाते हैं.
- दिसम्बर, 1971 में भारत-पाकिस्तान के बीच हुए लोंगेवाला के युद्ध में सिर्फ 2 जवान हताहत हुए थे. इस युद्ध पर बॉलीवुड की मूवी ‘बॉर्डर’ भी बनी थी.
- इंडियन आर्मी विश्व की सबसे बड़ी वोलेंटरी आर्मी है, भारतीय सेना के पास विश्व में सबसे ज्यादा सैनिक हैं.
Age requirement for Indian Army :-
Nationality: Candidates must be citizens of India.
Age Limits:
- For G.D Post (General Duty Soldier) – 17.5 – 21 yrs
- For Tradesman Post – 17.5 – 23 yrs
- For Clerk Post – 17.5 – 23 yrs
- For Technical Trade – 17.5 – 23 yrs
- For Officer’s Post – 18 – 25 years
Qualification requirement for Indian Army :-
- For G.D Post (General Duty Soldier) – 10th Passed
- For Tradesman Post – 10th Passed
- For Clerk Post – 12th Passed with maths & English subject (50% marks in each)
- For Technical Trade – 12th Passed with PCM (50% marks in each)
- For Officer’s Post – 12th Passed through NDA, Must have graduate from any recognized university for CDS.
Selection Procedure In Indian Army :-
- Physical Fitness Test (PFT)
- Medical Test (MT)
- Written Exam (knowledge Test)
Physical Standards for Indian Army:-
1. Indian Territorial Army Physical Fitness (PFT) For Male:- Army Recruitment Bharti Physical Fitness Test (PFT) for Sol. G.D, Sol. Technical, Soldier N.A, Soldier Clerk/SKT and PFT for Education Havildar. Army recruitment physical fitness test for men & women is 100 marks. more details about physical fitness test are as under –

3. Army Rally Bharti Physical For Male Candidates:
- 1.6 Km Race or 1600 meter or 1 Mile Run.

4. Race Timing For Indian Army Sol. G.D, Clerk/SKT, Tradesman, N.A, Technical:-
- Group I : Race Completed within 5 Minutes and 30 Seconds – 60 Marks
- Group II : Race Completed within 5 Minutes and 30 Seconds – 48 Marks
5. Beam, Pull ups : Number of Pull Ups and marks awarded is as under:
- 10 Pull Ups on beam – 40 Marks
- 9 Pull Ups on beam – 33 Marks
- 8 Pull Ups on beam – 27 Marks
- 7 Pull Ups on beam – 21 Marks
- 6 Pull Ups on beam – 16 Marks
Medical Standards for Indian Army:-
- A candidate should have robust physique and good mental health.
- Chest should be well developed having minimum 5 cms expension.
- Should have normal hearing with each ear and good binocular vision in both eyes. He should be able to read 6/6 in distant vision chart with each eye. Colour vision should be CP – III (able to recognize white, red and green signal colours correctly as shown by Martin’s Lantern at 1.5 meters).
- Should have sufficient number of natural healthy gum and teeth i.e. minimum 14 dental points.
- Should not have diseases like deformity of bones, hydrocele and varicocele or piles.
- Soldier General Duty for Infantry should have 6/6 eye sight.

Final Selection List :-
After passing all these above tests Indian Army prepares Final Selection List after 15-30 days of Exams. The List is based on the marks secured by the candidates in the examination procedure. Those who make their name in the merit list served with the call letter to Join Indian Armed Force.
