Even a small unit of Indian Army houses thousands of personnel, their family, equipment, stores and inventory. For a unit to function properly, the above mentioned stores, personnel and inventory must be managed efficiently!
This is where Clerks come handy! Soldier Clerks/Store Keepers (SKT) are tasked with responsibilities such as inventory, personnel and resource management.
Some of the main tasks performed by Soldier Clerks/Store Keepers (SKT) include –

In order to perform the above mentioned tasks, Soldier Clerks or SKTs are trained in areas such as –

Age & Educational Qualification For Indian Army Clerk/Skt
Nationality: Candidates must be citizens of India and unmarried.
Age Limits: Between 17.5 to 23 years, as per the original documents (10th class DMC) of the student.
Educational Qualifications: The minimum qualification for Clerk if given below-
- The minimum educational qualification is Class 12th passed from any stream (Arts/Commerce/Science).
- Only those candidates can apply who had Maths or Accounts or Book keeping in Class 12th.
- Should have minimum 60% marks Total and minimum 50% marks in each subject.

Selection Procedure :-
The Very first step is to find the advertisment on sources like employment newspaper, the internet or by contacting the nearest recruiting office of your zone. the dates are then announced on notice boards and media sources which include the important information about the required documents like: Extra physical activities certificates, 10 Class Dmc for birth proof, 12 Class Dmc for Qualification Proof, Character certificate, Domicile and latest 30-40 Passport size photos.
Next Step is to Fill the Online Registration Form on Official Site of Indian Army as per your zone and upload the required document. finally submit your form and wait for Admit card. You can Download the admit card online and take a printout of it.

1. Height & Weight Required For Indian Army Clerk/Skt:-
- Height – Minimum 162 cm
- Chest – After the expansion should not be less than 77 cm, there must be minimum expansion of 5cm.
- Weight – Should not be less than 50 kg.

2. Physical Fitness Tests (PFT) In Indian Army Soldier G.D:-
To determine the Physical Fitness, the following tests carrying 100 marks are held:-
- 1.6 Km Race or 1600 meter or 1 Mile Run.
- Pull ups
- Balance test
- 9 Feet Ditch
* Only have to Qualify the Physical Fitnes Test (PFT) , No-Marking System for Indian Army Clerk.
(a) 1600 meter Race/ 1.6 Km / 1 MILE RUN
- Race should be Completed within 5 Min. 45 Seconds. – qualifying test
(b) Beam/PULL UPS
- 10 Pull Ups on beam – qualifying test.
(c) Balance Test : These are qualifying test and no marks are awarded.
(d) 9 Feet Ditch: These are qualifying test and no marks are awarded.
Medical Standards for Indian Army Clerk/Skt
- A candidate should have robust physique and good mental health.
- Chest should be well developed having minimum 5 cms expension.
- Should have normal hearing with each ear and good binocular vision in both eyes. He should be able to read 6/6 in distant vision chart with each eye. Colour vision should be CP – III (able to recognize white, red and green signal colours correctly as shown by Martin’s Lantern at 1.5 meters).
- Should have sufficient number of natural healthy gum and teeth i.e. minimum 14 dental points.
- Should not have diseases like deformity of bones, hydrocele and varicocele or piles.
- Soldier General Duty for Infantry should have 6/6 eye sight.
